The best AI visibility tool depends on the work you need to finish. A team investigating incorrect product answers needs different evidence from an agency reporting across clients or an enterprise researching a whole category. Start with that job, then compare engine coverage and allowances.
How we compared
We publish August. This guide compares vendors’ published product information, checked September 10, 2026. It is not a hands-on accuracy benchmark. The shortlist advice is our judgment; links let you inspect the underlying features and current plans.

Choose the kind of work you need
- Track a known set of questions: prioritize saved answers, reliable collection, prompt editing and useful history.
- Research a category: inspect the breadth and selection of the vendor’s question index, not just your custom prompt quota.
- Improve your content: ask to see the recommendation, editable draft and approval process. A report and a finished edit are different deliverables.
- Manage clients: check workspace boundaries, client access, exports and whether quotas are shared across the account.
August: from a finding to a reviewed fix
August combines answer and citation tracking with a draft-and-follow-up workflow. It is worth considering when a small team wants help turning a visibility gap into something it can publish. Drafts can be edited and copied; the GitHub path creates a draft PR for review. Publication stays in your hands. Starter includes 25 tracked prompts across one brand workspace; Pro includes 75 across three. These are account-wide prompt allowances, not 75 per brand.
Profound: monitoring and content agents
Profound offers monitoring alongside Agents for content workflows. It also has self-serve plans, so a comparison that describes every purchase as an enterprise sales process is out of date. Check the engines and Agent credits in the exact tier you would buy. A broad product page does not mean the entry plan includes the whole platform.
Peec AI: daily tracking and prioritized opportunities
Peec AI combines daily monitoring with Actions, which surfaces recommended opportunities. Consider it when the immediate task is understanding where to act across a recurring set of questions. Inspect an actual recommendation and the source evidence behind it; do not assume that recommendation delivery includes publishing the work.
Otterly.AI: a smaller initial monitoring commitment
Otterly.AI lists a Lite plan at $29/month with 15 prompts on monthly billing. Its scope includes citations, GEO audits and recommendations, rather than monitoring alone. Check the included engines and paid add-ons before comparing the headline price with a broader bundle.
Semrush: visibility work alongside search analysis
Semrush offers a distinct AI Visibility Toolkit with prompt tracking, research and readiness audits. Existing Semrush users may prefer keeping related work in the same product family. Confirm which reports come with this subscription and which belong to separate SEO products.
Ahrefs: category research and custom tracking
Ahrefs offers Brand Radar as a separately purchasable product, including through an Ahrefs Free account. Its broader research index and custom prompt tracking answer different questions: what appears in the index versus what appears for your own recurring prompt list. Inspect both before deciding the plan fits your monitoring needs.
Scrunch: site access and the agent experience
Scrunch covers monitoring and auditing, with AXP addressing the experience delivered to AI agents. AXP means Agent Experience Platform. If that delivery layer is your reason to buy, involve whoever owns website infrastructure and establish what deployment and maintenance would require.
AthenaHQ: actions as well as monitoring
AthenaHQ lists content recommendations and on-page/off-page actions, with capabilities varying by tier. It now has a free entry option as well as paid plans. Ask what an action produces and which permissions it uses. Do not evaluate the platform as if it only edits pages on your own site.
Evertune: larger measurement and content requirements
Evertune lists a Pro offering with a large prompt allowance and content features. That makes it worth inspecting when collection volume is a priority. More observations alone do not establish more accurate conclusions: ask how questions are selected, grouped and compared over time.
Writesonic: content production and visibility together
Writesonic bundles SEO, content work and GEO capabilities. Compare the required engines and action features at the plan level. A team that already has a writing system may value this bundle differently from a team replacing several separate tools.
Run the same buying test with your shortlist
- 1.Bring five real questions: a broad recommendation, a competitor comparison, a use-case question, a factual product question and a question where you expect no mention.
- 2.Ask to inspect the full answer, linked sources, collection time and answering surface for each result.
- 3.Choose one finding and follow it through the product. Can you explain the next action without a sales representative translating the report?
- 4.Price the same prompt, engine, workspace and checking schedule across vendors. Include add-ons.
- 5.Export a result. Decide whether another person could review the evidence without access to the dashboard.
A vendor can pass this buying test without winning on every feature. Choose the one that makes your most frequent job easier and whose limitations you understand.
Go deeper on the measurement
Use our LLM visibility comparison for collection questions, monitoring guide for recurring operations, or citation tracking guide for source-level evidence.
Questions, answered.
Which tool is best for every company?
There is no useful universal winner. Choose by your recurring job, required engines, evidence quality, workflow and total plan cost.
Are these hands-on performance rankings?
No. This is a source-linked product-scope comparison published by August. It does not establish which vendor has the most accurate measurements.
Can we start without buying a full platform?
Yes. Use a small prompt list to establish what you need to measure, then try the relevant entry plan or audit. Get started with August, or check other vendors’ current trial terms directly.
